Houston Methodist is seeking an experienced RN II to join the ICU/IMU team. The RN II functions at the Competent to Proficient level of practice and provides high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to patients with complex and acute needs. This role collaborates closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure safe, compassionate, and effective care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to ICU/IMU patients with varied and complex conditions
- Perform assessments, administer medications, assist with procedures, and manage emergencies
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
- Educate patients and families and advocate for patient rights
- Collaborate with the interprofessional care team to achieve optimal outcomes
- Serve in leadership roles such as charge nurse, preceptor, or shared governance participant
Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Experience
- Minimum 12 months RN experience in an acute care setting
Licenses & Certifications (Required)
- Active Texas RN license (compact accepted; Texas license required within 60 days if relocating)
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
Preferred
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
- ANCC Magnet-recognized certification
Skills & Abilities
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
- Effective communication with patients, families, and care teams
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and basic Microsoft applications
